How to Calculate GM%

• Subtract the cost from the merchandise
• Divide the result by the the total merchandise
• The final result is your gross margin percentage

  Example:

  • STEP 1 >> $1.00 (merchandise) - $.50 (cost) = $.50 (profit)
  • STEP 2 >> $.50 (profit) / $1.00 (merchadise) = .50 (gross margin percentage) i.e. 50% GM
  • RESULT >> .50 (gross margin percentage) i.e. 50% GM
