Keyboard Testing

  • How can I test my keyboard for non-functioning keys ?Updated:02-18-2006 - Views: 344 From a power off condition, press and hold down the Reset key while powering on the terminal. When the display comes up with the Configuration Screen, release the Reset key and press the letter 'K' to enter a special keyboard diagnostic screen. Press each key individually and monitor the screen to ensure proper key functioning. After testing the keys press enter to exit and return to your normal session.

    NOTE:
Press Enter only after you have tested all other keys. Pressing Enter will exit the keyboard test.

What keyboards are supported by my 2677M?

  • Updated:02-18-2006 - Views: 388 Any keyboard with a mini din / ps2 connector will work with the 2677M. HOWEVER if the keyboard does not support Scan Set 3 some of the keys will not work, or will not produce the desired results. Full functionality will require the keyboard support Scan Set 3 which is an extended character set supporting Sys Req and several other keys. Not many, if any, PC keyboards support these keys.

Depending on the application and the keys required a keyboard supporting scan set 2 would be fine for normal input, but F key support, and other special keys, such as setup etc. will likely fail.

Can I use a PC keyboard with my 2677M?

  • Yes, but with reservations. The 2677M will most likely recognize most if not all keystrokes from a PC keyboard. However, if there are any keys that do not respond properly there is not a solution as the keyboard is not sourcing the proper scancode needed by the 2677M.
