How to display the System Support Menu

1. From the IBS Main Application screen you can reach System Support Menu by keying

“Z U”. The System Support Menu will then display.

*NOTE: If you are in any other IBS Application Menu you must first type “24” then

press the ENTER key to return to the Main Application Menu.

System Support Menu

Option # 1 (Restore Files from Daily Backup) ?What does this Menu do?

L This menu will allows the user to restore files from a previous

backup.

When should I take this option?

L Take this option only after a serious disaster (i.e. disk crash, file

corruption problems, fire, flood damage, etc.)

Stop: + This option will overwrite your files. If you proceed any changes

made since the backup tape WILL be lost. Are your sure? If not call IBS!!!

How to Restore Files from Daily Backup

1. From the IBS Main Application screen you can reach this option by keying “Z U”. The

System will display the System Support Menu.

*NOTE: If you are in any other IBS Application Menu you must first type “24” then

press the ENTER key to return to the Main Application Menu.

2. Next, key “1” (Restore from Daily Backup) then press the ENTER key. The Restore

Alert screen will prompt

3. Key in the correct response (see below) then press ENTER. See below for options!

End (E) 7 Recommended Option!

E Key a “E” (End) to exit this screen and return to Main Applications menu. This is the

recommended option.

Cassette (C)

C Key a “C” (Tape Cartridge) to return to restore from your tape to the System. This is not a

backup. This is a restore (i.e. files will be copied from TAPE to System). Don’t take this

option for your nightly backup or you will regret it for a loooong time!

4. Next, read the warning message and if you are still sure key “Y” (Yes) to continue

or “N” (No, recommended option) to cancel and return to the Main Applications

Menu then press ENTER.

F Once you select “Y” (Yes) and press ENTER this option will begin deleting all IBS

Files. If you decide at this point that this is not what you wanted to do call IBS then

send out for pizza. It will be a long night!

Option # 2 (Restore from Period Backup) ?What does this Menu do?

of period backup.

When should I take this option?

How to Restore Files from Period Backup

1. From the IBS Main Application screen you can reach this option by keying “Z U”. The

System will display the System Support Menu.

*NOTE: If you are in any other IBS Application Menu you must first type “24” then

press the ENTER key to return to the Main Application Menu.

2. Next, key “2” (Restore from Period Backup) then press the ENTER key. The Restore

Alert screen will then prompt.

3. Next, read the warning message and if you are still sure key “Y” (Yes) to continue

or “N” (No, recommended option) to cancel and return to the Main Applications

Menu then press ENTER.

F Once you select “Y” (Yes) and press ENTER this option will begin deleting all IBS

Files. If you decide at this point that this is not what you wanted to do call IBS then

send out for pizza. It will be a long night...

System Support Menu

Option # 4 (File Allocation Report/Update) ?What does this Menu do?

L This menu will allows the user to reallocate file sizes within the

AS/400.

When should I take this option?

L Take this option whenever you need to resize your AS/400 files or

if you need a report listing their file sizes.

Stop: + This option will overwrite your files. If you proceed any changes

made since the backup tape WILL be lost. Are your sure? If not

call IBS!!!

How to Re-Allocate Your Data Files

1. From the IBS Main Application screen you can reach this option by keying “Z U”. The

System will display the System Support Menu.

*NOTE: If you are in any other IBS Application Menu you must first type “24” then

press the ENTER key to return to the Main Application Menu.

2. Next, key “3” (File Allocation Report/Update) then press the ENTER key. The Report

Alert screen will

3. Review the allocated space and find any file or files that have reached 90%+ (if any). Use your

TAB key to move to the field beside it then key in the new requested file size. Once complete

press ENTER to add/update.

4. Next you will be prompted for a time during the day to apply the changes. Use the following to

select a time.

Ξ If you want the changes to be immediately... key “NW” (No Wait) then

press ENTER. Changes will immediately begin.

W All users must be signed off the system or else the resizing procedure will not

finish.

Ο If you want to select a specific time after your business closes to

apply new file sizes... key a specific time, in military format, (i.e. 6PM = 1800)

then press ENTER.

Π If you want to cancel this operation... hold the Shift key down and press

the System Attn key. A dotted (or hyphenated) line will appear on the bottom of

your screen. Key a “2” then press ENTER. You will be returned to the System

Support Menu.

Option # 6 (Backup IBSLIBR to Tape) ?What does this Menu do?

L This menu will allows the user save off their main program library.

When should I take this option?

L Take this option whenver instructed to do so by IBS Personnel.

Stop: + This option is not your daily backup option. Take this option only if

instructed to do so by IBS personnel.

How to Backup IBSLIBR to Tape

1. From the IBS Main Application screen you can reach this option by keying “Z U”. The

System will display the System Support Menu.

*NOTE: If you are in any other IBS Application Menu you must first type “24” then

press the ENTER key to return to the Main Application Menu.

2. Next, key “6” (Backup IBSLIBR to

Tape) then press the ENTER key. The

Tape Initialization and backup procedures

will begin. Once complete you will be

returned to the System Support Menu.

K If you receive the message “Tape drive is not ready” then you have failed to place a

tape cartridge into the Tape Drive. Recover by placing a tape cartridge into the tape drive then

key “1” and ENTER to continue or cancel by keying a “3” then pressing ENTER.

System Support Menu

Option # 7 (Printer Setup procedure Running) ?What does this Menu do?

L This menu will allows the user to setup new Printers (and printer

locations) within the store.

When should I take this option?

L Take this option whenever instructed to do so by IBSs Personnel.

How to Setup New Printer Stations

1. From the IBS Main Application screen you can reach this option by keying “Z U”. The

System will display the System Support Menu.

*NOTE: If you are in any other IBS Application Menu you must first type “24” then

press the ENTER key to return to the Main Application Menu.

2. Next, key “7” (Printer Setup Procedure) then press the ENTER key. The Questionnare

Maintenance Printer Configuration Menu will display.

3. Begin by keying in the printer ID that you want to identify (i.e. P1, P2, PA, PB, PC, etc.) then

press ENTER, additional fields will then prompt.

4. Key in the following

information as necessary

using your TAB and FIELD

EXIT keys to move from one

fields to another. Once complete

press ENTER to continue to

the next page. Field descriptions

are listed below.

Printer ID

This is a display only field displaying the Printer that you have selected. If this is not the correct printer

ID press the Cmd3 (No Update) key to return and begin again.

Page Number

Page number displays.

Printer Area ID

Key in the two digit code for the location inside the store of your printer (exp. A2, B7, C1, etc.).

Store (Inventory) Loc

Key in your store location number “01-99”

Printer Make & Model

Hex Characters

1. Compress Print

2. Double Wide Characters

3. Normal Width Characters

4. Begin Underline

5. End Underline

Parallel or Serial Port

P (Parallel) Key a “P” to indicate that this printer is connected to a Workstation via Parallel Printer

port.

S (Serial) Key “S” to indicate that this printer is connected via Serial printer port.

Cmd3 (No Update)

Press Cmd3 (No Update) to cancel all input. No changes will be recorded.

Cmd4 (Delete)

Press Cmd4 (Delete) to delete this printer.

ENTER

Press ENTER to accept the information on this screen and continue.
