Workstation Types

Thin Clients

  • workstations that are physically connected to the main server via an  Ethernet cable
  • often referred to as "Thin client workstations"
  • newer thin clients will have a limited operating system (usually Windows CE, Windows XP or Linux)

Twinax

  • terminals that are physically connected to the main system service via a daisy chain Twinax cable
  • often referred to as "Dumb terminals"

System Console

  • A single terminal physically connected to the main system service via a Twinax cable
  • often referred to as "Dumb terminals"
  • This is the controlling terminal that is normally only used in cases of emergency

TCP Shutdown & Restart Commands

Commands can be typed in UPPER or lowercase

  1. End TCP    ENDTCP <>
  2. Start TCP    STRTCP <>
  3. Start Host Servers    STRHOSTSVR *ALL <>
  • Start only telnet STRTCPSVR *TELNET <>
