Additional Printer Information & Issues
If your Printer isn't printing spool files and you need to know where to find
them do the following:
If a
printer stops printing, do the following step by step.

Check the printer >>
Printer Y/N (was it thrown away, did someone pick it up, did if all
behind the printer)

Check the printer status
>> online & ready (is the printer
offline or turned off)

Check the
output queue >> ESC + Printer number (WRKOUTQ
Pn)

Check the
active jobs >> ESC + Option for work with active jobs (WRKACTJOB)

Check the job
queue >> ESC + Option for work with job queue (WRKJOBQ
QBATCH)

Check the way
that you are taking the option (are you typing it wrong, is the
option not working, are the dates they are typing wrong)
Change a Print Writer that Keeps going on Hold
- CHGWTR WTR(PX)
FORMTYPE(*ALL *INFOMSG) OPTION(*FILEEND)
How to Reset a Printer connected to a PC or Terminal (except for I-O
Workstations)
- turn the printer off
- turn the terminal off (or session off)
- turn the printer on
- turn the terminal on (or activate the session)
- test the printer
How to Reset a Printer connected to an I-O Terminal
- turn the printer off
- turn the terminal off
- turn the terminal on
- turn the printer on
- test the printer
If that doesn't work you need to do the following
- put the spool files for that printer on hold
- turn the printer off
- turn the terminal (or session off)
- turn the printer on
- turn the terminal on (or activate the session)
- release the files
- test the printer
If that doesn't work you need to do the following
- put the spool files for that printer on hold
- turn the printer off
- turn the terminal (or session off)
- end the writer
- vary off the printer
- turn the printer on
- turn the terminal on (or activate the session)
- start the printer
- release the files
- test the printer
