Troubleshooting the 6461

6461

BOSaNOVA 6461

** Vista is Not Supported**

  1. When using a 6461 card in an IBM docking station I am unable to undock the laptop and get the following messages: "You cannot eject the computer because one of the devices is in the docking station, "BOScom Stealth Mode PCI Twinax", cannot be stopped because it is using a driver that does not support plug and play. Since this device is still being used, do not remove the computer."
  2. I am getting a 16 bit error when trying to install software for my 6461 card.
  3. I am getting garbage characters randomly on my screen in Bosanova emulation.
  4. What voltage is needed for the 6461 HH cards?
  5. I upgraded to a newer version of Bosanova Emulation software and my printer doesn't work anymore - settings are the same as with the older version.
  6. Getting BPD009 Twinax Adaptor Not Found after downloading a Windows update.
  7. When a print job is sent from the AS/400 to the PC what format is used?

Per Edik - the fix requires developing of the Kernel mode driver that answers on Plug and Play requests. Currently we have no employee that can implement this.  The current driver doesn't support the requests therefore the Windows is unable to undock. The only solution is to turn off the PC before undocking. (09/02/05)

I am getting a 16 bit error when trying to install software for my 6461 card.

Browsed the CD and run setup.exe from the win9x/nt directory.

I am getting garbage characters randomly on my screen in Bosanova emulation.

Modify the shortcut target to contain a switch.  After the double quotes at the end, add a space followed by a forward slash and then in all CAPs and all together SLOWTEXTOUT - see example for TCP/IP below:

"C:\Program Files\BOS\BOSaNOVA Plus" /SLOWTEXTOUT

What voltage is needed for the 6461 HH cards?

+5V and +3.3V

I upgraded to a newer version of Bosanova Emulation software and my printer doesn't work anymore - settings are the same as with the older version.

There were printer issues between version 6.07 and 7.10.  You can either replace the existing printer emulation file with the one from version 6.05 BSPREMUL6.05.zip or install the latest BSPREMUL.ZIP and make changes to advanced parameters in the printer session properties.  First try checking Ignore End Of Job Sequence and if that does not resolve the issue you can try to check Activate End Of Job Sequence after each page.

Getting BPD009 Twinax Adaptor Not Found after downloading a Windows update.

There is a fix for BOSāNOVA Twinax emulations running on Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 or Windows XP Service Pack 2. When attempting to run either the BOSāNOVA Twinax emulation (or Twinax Client) or the Twinax Wizard, the Wizard returns the error message 'TWZ045 (Internal error 13) Twinax adapter not found'. The problem exists for BOS Native Plus adapter users as well. The old BSTWXPCI.SYS file, which is required for the Twinax driver installation (installed with the BSTWXPCI.INF file), allocated adapter resources in Windows. Because Microsoft made some changes with regard to security, the low-level Twinax driver is unable to access the adapter in this environment.

We have prepared a file that fixes the above-mentioned problem. Follow these instructions to apply the patch:

  1. Download the patch by clicking here. Save the file to your hard drive.
  2. Unpack the patch files by locating the downloaded file and double-clicking it -- note the directory to where the files are unpacked.
  3. If PC is Windows 2000, run the resulting BSCLEAN.EXE file and follow directions below.
  4. If PC is XP, follow directions below.
  5. Right-click on My Computer and select properties.
  6. Select the hardware tab and then select the device manager.
  7. Find the BOS stealth mode PCI twinax under ? OTHER DEVICES.
  8. Right-click on it and select properties.
  9. Select the driver tab and select update driver.
  10. Follow through the wizard and point to the location of the previously extracted files for the updated driver and complete the wizard.

When a print job is sent from the AS/400 to the PC what format is used?

When using the current Windows driver we send a bitmap.  ASCII text can only be sent when using a custom driver.
